Let's talk about self-care. I'm actually doing some self-care as we speak! I have my favorite Murad clarifying mask on with my feet in a pedicure spa bath. It's much needed after this week I've had! According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), taking care of yourself is extremely important for managing stress, recharging yourself, protecting your physical health and keeping healthy mental habits. We all know how important self-care is. Especially when you're a Mama. Obviously it can be super difficult to find time for yourself but anyway you can, you should do it! NAMI recommends eating well, exercising daily, getting enough sleep and practicing relaxation techniques. In my case, my self-care usually happens 2 to 3 times a week whenever Johanna goes to sleep. I'll put a face mask on, light some candles and hop in the tub for 20 to 30 minutes. Or I'll practice some breathing techniques just to recharge and reboot. Now obviously I am typing this blog while doing my self-care right now but NAMI recommends getting rid of the phones, television, etc. and I couldn't agree more! Self-care means you are focusing on yourself and being in the moment. Phones, TVs, etc can distract us from being in the moment and actually feeling the benefits of self-care. NAMI also recommends staying away from alcohol when practicing self-care. Who doesn't love a glass a wine while they have a mask on their face?! I'd say maybe just don't drink the whole bottle! Other ways you can practice self-care are to get a massage, read a good book, listen to music that inspires you, learn something new or go on a walk! I would even go as far as writing it down in your planner! Let me know some things you guys do for self-care!
